UIndy-owned computers
UIndy IT provides comprehensive support for University-owned equipment, ensuring that faculty and staff have reliable physical tools for teaching, learning, and administration, This includes hardware maintenance and repairs for desktops, laptops, printers, and essential peripherals.
Common Services Covered (on University-owned computers):
- Computer Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshooting including but not limited to: hardware failures, unexpected shutdowns, beep codes, blue screen/kernel panic errors, low disk space errors, and overheating issues on desktop and laptop computers.
- Component Replacement & Repairs: Computers are sent out to our vendor for repairs; loaners are provided while the computer is out.
- Physical Damage Assessment: Inspecting liquid spills, cracked screens, damaged charging ports, broken hinges, and drop damage to evaluate repair options.
Limited support for personal computers/devices
The UIndy IT Help Desk will provide the support necessary on your personal device (e.g. laptop, smart phone, tablet) to ensure connectivity to the University's network, providing the issue is not hardware-related. Support includes: network connectivity, information about virus scanning and remediation, guidance for software installations, and referrals to local vendor who can assist with operating system and hardware issues.
Support for other hardware/devices
UIndy IT provides maintenance and support for other hardware/devices purchased through UIndy IT with University funds including but not limited to: printers, AV equipment, security cameras.
