Onboarding for employees (technology only)

Request the following access and technology for new employees:

BUSINESS SYSTEMS ACCESS

UIndy Self-Service

Most students and employees use UIndy Self-Service for activities like registration, looking up course schedules, and submitting timesheets. UIndy account-holders do not need to be granted special access for most applicable areas of UIndy Self-Service. Some individuals, however, need access to areas other of Self-Service (e.g. Budget, Purchase Requisitions, Class Rosters for courses not taught) to perform their job responsibilities.  These are only available by request and upon approval of a supervisor.

Banner Admin Pages

Banner Admin Pages is used by some office personnel for day-to-day administrative record-keeping functions. Access to Banner Admin Pages must be requested and approved by a supervisor and the administrative area's department head.  Basic training by a supervisor or as arranged by the appropriate Data Steward or Data Manager is required.

Cognos

Access to the University's data reporting toolset, Cognos and ODS & EDW, is available upon request and approval of a supervisor.

Degree Works

Tool to help students and advisors monitor progress toward degree completion.

Slate Admissions

Manages the prospective student journey from inquiry to enrollment. It supports recruitment, communications, application processing, and admissions workflows.

Slate Success

Supports student engagement and retention efforts by centralizing student data and communications.

COMPUTER AND PRINTING ACCESS

Full-time employees are eligible for a University-issued computer that is on a 5-year replacement cycle. Part-time or temporary employees may be assigned, upon request by the supervisor, a refurbished unit based on availability and job requirements. Please submit requests at least five (5) business days prior to the start date.

Departmental budget codes will be needed to provide access to UIndy printers for UIndy-issued computers.  Supervisor approval and departmental codes are required to provide access to UIndy printers on personal computers.

UIndy IT will work with the hiring manager, or their designee, to schedule an appointment for the new employee to receive their computer. During the deployment appointment, new employees will be introduced to their computers, given an overview of installed software and printers, as well as a brief introduction to UIndy desktop security policies.

Adjunct instructors may request to check-out a laptop from UIndy Tech Checkout kiosks if they choose not to use their own laptops.  See the Self Help article listed below.
